The nightmarish reimaginings of beloved childhood characters continue, as Alice and the Mad Hatter has been announced as the latest addition to the growing "Poohniverse" horror franchise. Following the success of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey and its upcoming sequel, this new film aims to bring a terrifying twist to the whimsical world of Alice in Wonderland .

A Dark Wonderland Awaits

During a recent Q&A on filmmaker Scott Chambers’ Instagram account, he was asked what movie he plans to direct after Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare , which is scheduled for a 2025 release. In response, Chambers shared a title card revealing Alice & The Mad Hatter , suggesting that this will likely be his next project.

This announcement also expands the ever-growing Twisted Childhood Universe (TCU), which already has horror projects in development based on Bambi and Pinocchio , as well as a crossover event and a Blood and Honey threequel. With Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the director behind Blood and Honey , overseeing the franchise’s growth, Alice and the Mad Hatter will likely be another brutal and terrifying adaptation.

The Growing Poohniverse

The Poohniverse began with Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey in 2023, turning the beloved bear and Piglet into bloodthirsty killers. The sequel, Blood and Honey 2 , is set to release soon, continuing the gruesome legacy.

Now, with Alice and the Mad Hatter entering the mix, horror fans can expect to see a nightmarish take on Wonderland, possibly featuring twisted versions of the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts, and more.

No official release date has been announced, but with the TCU expanding rapidly, Alice and the Mad Hatter is sure to be another shocking addition to the lineup.
